Regional Finals: Game 18, @ STA vs. SM South
The Saints 17th Regional Title in 20 attempts came quickly as the girls
played about as well as they can play in that first half against a solid
SM South team. Despite missing 3 point blank goals in the opening 4
minutes, we did go on to put 5 on the board before half.
And it was a story of constant attack and creativity on the offensive
side of the ball. BWhite named Kutey and Pyle as co-BWhite Players of
the Match. They played marvelously off each other and within the flow
that our center midfielders created.
We took 18 shots in the first half to South's 2, and we generated 6
corner kicks. This was an important half for us after the long layoff
with the bye against a team that had knocked off both BV North and
Olathe East and that was coming off a 9-0 blanking of Topeka West.
We know what awaits us on Tuesday, a rematch of last year's state
quarterfinal against BV Southwest. The winner gets blown to McPherson
for the final four. It will be quite a match.
